When to call us

It is normal to deliver between 37 and 42 weeks.

If this will be your first child: call us when you have heavy contractions that last approximately 60 seconds and come regularly for two hours every 3-5 minutes.
If you have had a delivery already: call us with contractions that last approximately 60 seconds and come regularly every 5 minutes or so. If you need us before that, you can always call us.

Call us immediatly if the color of the amniotic fluid is green or brown after your water breaks; call us even if it is night.

Call us during the daytime if the color of the amniotic fluid is clear (which is to say: not green or brown) and when there are not any heavy contractions going on. We prefer if you do not call us during the night if the color of the amniotic fluid is clear, unless of course we have agreed on something else during one of your appointments at our practice.

Call us if you lose a lot of blood (1 sanitary towel full of blood within half an hour).

Call if you develop a fever (if your temperature is higher than 37,8 degrees celsius).

Call us if you do not feel the baby as often as before.

Call when you are anxious or worried about something.
